Frequently Asked Questions

A quick guide to print sizes, finishes, frames and custom requests.

Do you offer traditional matte and frame options?

Yes. We use professional photo finishers and have access to a wide range of mattes and frames. Not every option is available through the online gallery, so please contact us before ordering if you have a specific presentation in mind.

Why does the maximum size vary from image to image?

Maximum sizes depend on the original capture format, resolution and image detail. Some works were photographed on high-resolution digital systems, while others come from earlier digital or panoramic film captures. We set maximum sizes conservatively so the finished print remains sharp and consistent.

What are the image sizes in metric, and how big will they look on my wall?

Please see our Image Size Comparison for metric equivalents and room simulations.

Why is the second measurement not listed?

Many images follow familiar print ratios, but our final crops are chosen to suit the subject rather than force every image into the same shape. The listed size is the longest side, and the shorter side varies with the artwork.

Are the listed image sizes the overall finished size?

The quoted image size represents the longest side of the finished image as previewed, including decorative borders and mattes if selected. Frames are in addition to the quoted size.

Are images available without decorative mattes and borders?

Yes. Borderless Floating Acrylic is available for suitable images in the gallery.

Can I order a print only, tube packed for delivery?

Print-only orders may be available depending on the image, size and finish. Please contact us before ordering so we can confirm the best production and delivery option.

Can I view the images larger on the website?

Yes. Click an image in the gallery and it will open in a larger view.

Can I view samples of the frames you offer?

Yes. Please see our Frame Mouldings page.

Can you source a frame that matches frames already in my home?

We cannot guarantee an exact match, but we are happy to try. Please send us a clear photo of the existing frame before ordering and we will let you know what is possible.

Do I need to order a frame?

No. Floating Acrylic Prints are mounted and ready to hang without frames. They are also frame-ready if you prefer a more traditional look. Please see Our Mounts & Frames for more information.

Can I add a frame later?

Yes. You can arrange framing later through us, or use your local framing service if that is more convenient and helps avoid freight costs.

Can AustralianLight help with my own image?

Yes. We can prepare supplied images for printing and mounting, including RAW processing and JPEG fine-tuning where required. The final size and result depends on the file supplied, so please contact us to discuss your image before production.
