After finishing up a frigid, stupidly cold sunrise shoot on frozen Lake Minnewanka, it was time to head back to the B&B to get me some lovely breakfast ;)
This wasn't just "Australia-cold"; this was proper cold. With the mercury levels at almost -40c thanks to an "arctic outflow" (Canadians would certainly relate), my camera was covered in a fine white frost and its batteries were being put through their paces!
This was quite an otherworldly experience and one I'll never forget - especially considering I was out alone on this huge frozen lake in the early hours of the morning. Nothing but the eerie sounds, intermittent subwoofer-like rumbles - unlike anything I'd heard before. A gentle reminder that I was on a huge set of moving ice which was in constant motion beneath me.
Wow, I want to go back!
