Mount Buffalo is located deep within the Victorian Alpine regions and conveniently located near Bright. The area is renowned for its striking granite boulders and rock formations, of which the most prominent one is known as "The Horn", and very close by to where this shot was taken.
This particular Autumn morning saw some unexpected snowfalls in these high alpine regions throughout the night prior, and upon arriving we were treated to a scene an extra dosage of dense fog, intermittent drizzle and howling alpine winds -- exactly my type of environment and something I love to be part of.
The large number of dead trees you see in this image (as a result of 2006-07 bush fires) coupled with the less-than-ideal conditions certainly made for some dramatic and atmospheric shots - especially well suited to moody black and white treatment!
