The last quarter of 2010 saw South East Queensland's drought conditions come to an end - regular rain meant the sun rarely had a chance to light up the morning or afternoon skies, and as such it was hardly surprising that on this particular morning I arrived on location and was greeted with heavy, overcast cover - it was getting to the point of frustration.
This particular morning, I was doing the two camera approach - shooting both my panoramic film camera, as well as my digital camera at the same time. The normal exposures that I was seeing within the camera just didn't have any oomph, so I decided to utilise a 10-stop Neutral Density filter to obtain a super-long exposure - it worked, and paired with a black and white treatment, the result is one of my favourite black and white images. I've this printed & framed on my office wall and it always receives compliments - what more could a photographer ask for?! - Bernie
