This was taken en route home from Magnetic Island. After leaving Magnetic Island late morning, we decided not to push too hard and make Charters Towers our first overnight stop. We made camp and headed out to the nearby Lake Maraboon in the hope of finding a good location.
Unfortunately we made the lake just moments before sunset and had no real time to scope the area, so both Bernie and I simply plonked our gear down and clicked.
This image used a 10 stop Neutral Density filter to extend the exposure and smooth the water, plus a 3 stop graduated filter on the sky. With the sun almost gone, there was no time to calculate or test exposures, so I guessed 3 minutes and hoped for the best.
Thankfully it wasn't a bad guess. - Russell
